How To Save A YouTube Video
May 29, 2007It is fairly easy to save a YouTube video to your desktop for viewing or editing at a later date. Follow these simple steps;
1) Load up the YouTube video you want to save.
2) Copy the URL in your browser’s address bar.
3) Jump over to http://keepvid.com/
4) Paste the YouTube URL into the form on http://keepvid.com and hit return.
5) http://keepvid.com/ will reload with a new link on the page. Click >>Download Link<<. This will start the download of a file called “get_video“.
6) Once the file has been downloaded, you need to rename it with a “.flv” extension. To do this, right-click on the icon of the now downloaded video and select “Rename”, and at the end of the filename add “.flv” (Dot FLV).
7) Now you have saved your chosen video in a flash format. If you don’t have a flash-player installed, you need to convert the file to a more common format so that it is readable. To do this, download this program (25.6mb – may take a while) and install it.
8) When that program has installed, drag the .flv file into the Super © and adjust the output container to WMV (As shown). Once it has converted the file you can easily play it in Windows Media Player, Windows Movie Makerand a wide range of other Microsoft and compatible programs.
Happy videoing!
